This project is a direct reference to evolutionary concepts observed in nature. It is an exhibition which conveys a mimetic logic inspired by plant growth and animal behaviour using adaptive strategies of imitation to survive in their environment. Over time and up against a multitude of factors, they had to adapt to changes in order to defend themselves, going so far as to modify their body and composition. Made up for the most part of sculpture and drawing in the form of an installation, the work demonstrates an original juxtaposition of unusual materials and surfaces which offer a duality between the natural and the artificial. Located on the borderline of abstraction and representation, the works act like figures, aquatic coral, plants and heaps of matter with an ambiguous quality that are part way between alluring and threatening. In addition, the project is notable for its narrative, inspired by science fiction. This literary aspect stimulates the viewer’s imagination as they observe the works and suggests alternative possibilities for the future. The reference to science fiction also makes it possible to revisit works by appropriating concepts such as the dystopian society, new technology, altered states and extraterrestrial life. In a sense, the way the works are staged transforms the space of the exhibition into a futuristic ecological system, organized in the form of a hierarchy among the works presented.
